Well Done to Shane Holden who recently travelled to Glasgow to take part in a training camp organised by a Glasgow Boxing Club. Shane was selected along with three other boys to represent the Marble City Boxing Club who are based in Kilkenny. While Shane was there, he enhanced his skills and competed in the club’s home boxing tournament. Shane was up against a tough opponent and battled really hard. He was unfortunate to narrowly lose out on a 3-2 split decision. It was a great experience for Shane to represent his club and one we’re sure he will remember.
Since coming home from Glasgow, Shane has been very busy with the Marble City Boxing Club. He is currently participating in the Leinster Championship. 300 entrants have now been whittled down to 2! Shane fights in the final this Saturday. He is fighting in the under 12 Boy 2 category. We wish Shane the very best of luck and hope his winning streak will continue! Go Shane!
Congratulations to Bobby and Eoin who competed in Kingscourt at the National Cumann na mBunscoile Handball Day at the end of February. The boys represented Firoda NS, Co. Kilkenny and Leinster. They defeated opponents from Munster, Ulster and Connacht and were presented with a certificate and medal. Well Done boys! We are all very proud of your hard work!
We had lots of fun on Friday dressing up in green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Congratulations to Holly and her partner Katie Brennan who recently competed in the girls U-12 Doubles Leinster Handball Final. The game was played in Cullohill and the girls were up against tough opponents from Laois. Holly and Katie were victorious in the final. Well played girls!
We celebrated Pancake Tuesday in Firoda N.S. by having a feast of pancakes. A special word of thanks to Betty Owens and her daughter Deirdre for making lots of pancakes and keeping the Pancake Tuesday tradition alive in our school. A great day was had by all.
Our Photo shows Eimer and Emma enjoying their pancakes!
