Student Council

Meet this year's Student Council
Meet this year's Student Council

Holy Cross N.S. believe that students have a very important role to play in the running of our school.

A Student Council

  • helps improve school life for everybody.
  • acts as the voice of the students.
  • acts as a channel of communication within the school organisation between pupils, school and home.
  • encourages pupils to organise events and to represent the school in a positive way during these events.

The Election Process

Every year, students from Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth class are invited to nominate themselves for a place on the Students Council. Before the election candidates are asked to present their ideas in a speech to their peers. The classes elected their council representatives. Our newly elected Student’s Council was set up in September.

Meet Our Student Council  Team 2025 -2026

We are proud to introduce this year’s dedicated Student Council Members who are eager to represent their fellow students and make a positive impact on our school community. All new members were elected to the Student Council by their peers.

Together, they will work on projects and initiatives that help make Holy Cross N.S. an even better place to learn and grow!

This year's student council are asking for your help on a very important project. We are entering the WEEE Ireland School Battery Recycling Competition and in turn are doing our bit for the environment.

The winning school receives €2,000 towards sports equipment. Our school will be entering in the small school’s category (less than 100 pupils). The more batteries we collect the better chance we have of winning. We are asking for your support. Please ask aunts, uncles, grandparents, neighbours, work colleagues and friends to donate any used household batteries. Used batteries can be left directly to the school during school hours.

We will be collecting all chemical types of portable batteries (Alkaline, Zinc, Carbon, Ni -Cad, Ni-Mh, Lithium etc) and any cell size that is under 5kg in weight (all AAA, AA, A, C, D, 6v, Power tools and laptops, disposable vapes etc).
